The idea of a P71 and a separate race car is growing on me. I saw a cop car towing a trailer and thought, I could do the same. So.... Where is the best place to find a newer P71 that has or can be reconditioned for civilian use near CT?

My township just advertised two of them, $2000 minimum bid. They are sitting in my neighbors driveway; one is a white unmarked police car that looks new, the other was the Fire Chiefs and I know it racked up about 3 miles in the last 4 years. A little rust and it was marked, but might sell for even less. I only saw the listing in my little local paper, so perhaps look there?

Find your local State Trooper station and ask around. Mine is an Oregon State Police car. The staties and Fire cars are the best ones to get, local units tend to have severe duty and lots of idling.

Or If you can, when its time the local municipality gets rid of their old squads, ask the maintenance guys which one was the cream puff. That's how I got my 9C1.
Funny thing is, once in civilian hands, the "value" seems to go up about $2,000.

I was at the property auction 2 weeks ago, and wandered around the car lot. Tons of P71's ranging in condition from excellent, to stripped hulks.
Keep an eye out for the blue supervisor cars. It's not a sure bet that they were supervisor cars or they weren't beat on, but it's a place to start.

Where can you find Michigan State Trooper surplus vehicles? I could do with a P71 myself.

Yeah I missed the state of Connecticut Auction. I need to keep an eye out for another one. I keep checking ebay, autotrader, and bargainnews here. I do know of one state trooper that I can talk to also, plus I am in pretty good with one of the selectmen of my town. I might try the word of mouth thing first.

Local cop cars take a beating. State or Fire would be the way to go. Bonus if you can find a Chief's car.

State of CT auction looks to be this Saturday (May 9th @ 10AM, doors open at 8:30AM to view the cars), so I think you still have a shot!
I don't want to take this too far OT, but does anyone have any experience buying a truck from one of these auctions/sources?

Dude that govdeals site is awesome. One of the cop cars was going to be sold with light bar installed.
Or check out that starfire convertible.
Bad-berkleying-ass.
