I was just looking at the headers not the full system. I use the quick and dirty 1.5 times the pound value to make USD. I could get a chassis shop to build headers for LESS. They begin at 1k for a pretty standard SBC/BBC/SBF/BBF deal.

Curious, are their headers for the V12?

Do Not waste money on headers.. for a V12. Headers have a reputation for improvement.. That is absolutely true.. for a V8

The flaw with V8's is that adjacent cylinders may fire at 90 degrees, or 270 or 180 degrees (depending on their firing order)..

Whereas the V12 fires a nice even 60 degrees apart on adjacent cylinders.. that makes the stock cast Iron manifolds reasonably decent..

Most "headers" I've seen for Jaguar V12's aren't really even headers.. They are in fact tubular exhaust manifolds..

A real header is based on the camshaft used by the car plus they all need to be equal length.. Depending on the camshafts lengths of about 31 inches is required (that's a really serious racing camshaft length, longer for a more mild camshaft) .. That's an awful lot of tubing (6x1.75x31 inches) to be stuffed in a tight space..

When you weigh all that tubing you don't even save any real weight..

That isn't to suggest that the stock exhaust system is good or even acceptable.. There is some real performance gain by going to a larger diameter tubing and more free flowing mufflers.

Every before and after I've seen shows gains but gains no greater than the gain from the more free flowing exhaust/ Mufflers.

Having said all that.. If the "headers are properly designed to the camshaft in an all out race motor there is some potential for gain.. Admittedly modest but in all out racing a modest gain is important.

The flaw is those are all V8 engines. Now multiply that times 1.5 example 8x1.5=12. So to the price you quoted multiply by 1.5 Now add a complexity factor.. there is very little space along side the V12 engine. We're talking real spaghetti. and not one but 2 collectors per side.. Plus most British systems I've seen offered are in stainless steel..
