    Neither. I had retired 1991 ex-Sheriff's cruiser with this drivetrain circa 1995, except with vinyl interior. It has...wait for it...a 2-bbl carb. In the plus column, it was reliable, quiet and rode nice. It was roomy and easy to work on, and had nice duals. On the downside: Although it made more torque than the FI 5.0, horsepower is identical, and swills more unleaded in the process. The handling scared me. Tail-happy doesn't begin to describe how loose the rear was, and it got spooky floaty at anything like speed. The mileage was so poor it baffled me, so I tuned it up w/ 68k on the clock and it improved...from 11 to almost 14, and that was on the highway. Between the mileage, power and handling it lasted about 6 months in my driveway. On a side note, I doubled down on bad with my next pick, a used 8V Jetta GLI that was fun to drive but needed a trip to the shop at 45-day intervals. I was young...
