Looking for a wacky project car (requirements daily driver, baby hauler, fun to drive.)

I have no experience with subaru's but I've heard the early legacy's are indestructable. It would be nice if it was a 5spd. The price seems reasonable but is it worth it? Any advice?

Yes, I would buy it, but that shouldn't mean anything to a normal person.

90% of those were automatics. They are pale in comparison to the newest turbo Subys but were pretty good back in their day.

Toxic waste is pretty hard to get rid of also. I'd vote no.

Colin says "yes" (from that big Special Stage in the sky):

I don't think I'd buy "that one" (auto, mileage), but the bottom ends are REALLY robust, and old subaru's are a lot of fun! A surprising amount of later model WRX parts will fit as well.
