Some one I work with has a 96 Tahoe with 160k on the clock that he wants to get rid of. It is four wheel drive, leather, everything works. It purportedly has a coolant leak at the rear of the right head. I havent looked at the truck yet. I remember a coolant hose on the right rear of the intake of the throttle body engines but dont know about the port injected engines. Does anyone know of a propesity for these to leak if present?

HE needs a car for HIS BOYFRIEND. I offered to trade a 97 4 cylinder Conturd for it but he would rather have $1500.00 for it. I can probably talk him down to $1k.

$1000 + $800 at the junkyard is a Tahoe with a 50k mile engine. For $2500 you could have one with a trans and diffs to match.

160K isn't that much...especially on a GM SUV...prob needs the usual, shocks, bushings, whatnots...

Man I would do that in a heart beat. They make great tow rigs for smaller auto-x cars.

Having the nice covered cargo area and the extra seats make it a huge plus over a truck.

They have plastic intakes that leak, alot, on all of them. If it hasnt gotten enough coolant in the oil to ruin the bearings, and you can swap the intake, it will probably be fine. I have seen those engines in the junkyard where they would be under $200.

Two a small autox car, hell, they'll tow a house. Jump on it. (um, the truck...) Even if you need a new mill for it, you're not out much.

If the intake is leaking, it can not leak into the oil. There are no oil lines running into the intake, only water lines. Its about $80 for the full intake gasket kit, and it took me about 6 hours to fix.
