The Nelson family has brought some of the fastest and most innovative cars to the $2000 Challenge, and their latest build is no exception: a turbocharged, LS-powered, front-wheel-drive Eagle Talon.

Since beginning the project in early March, not only have they dropped in a turbocharged LS V8, they also widened the front track, installed a roll cage, added a trick four-speed shifter, and painted the car a bright shade of green.

The Nelsons have brought fast cars to the $2000 Challenge before, and they plan on being there again this fall with their latest build.

What strut inserts are those? They look beefy.

Third Gen Camaro because they are dimensionally similar to the Cadi strut but shorter.  The mount still needed to be raised and the hood reinforcement cut.

the camber plates were BMW version and were the cheapest thing on eBay.

adjustable collar were cheap flea market pieces and so are the springs.

we pitched the top of the strut inboard to project the reaction center to within 0.4" (total) of the contact point centerline to reduce/eliminate torque steer

I was wondering what kind of inspiration there was for this kind of instanity. NELSON ... makes sense now!

As someone who has spend the last two decades racing fwd cars, my hat is off to you for trying this. I pray for your transmission (and have some 26x10x15s for you if needed)

Very cool build, any idea about how much a FWD drag car gives up compared to a RWD setup all other things being "equal"?

They give up a ton of 60' and ET. They pick up a ton of MPH.
