BTW, the guy that spun, Arnie Loyning, runs this place:

"The Company was founded in 1976 by Arnie Loyning. Arnie has been building
engines for over 30 years. His engines have won 27 National Championships at
the SCCA Runoffs. He has also been a driver since 1965. In 2005 Arnie drove his CSR to a 1st place victory at the National SCCA Runoffs."
That is why he was able to pull that off.
The camera car, was a 68 Ford Cortina GT. So yeah, slow compared to the v8's and heavier than the Lotuses and the Porsche 904. The grid is typically done by qualifying time, so the smaller more nimble cars do better, get tossed up front and then killed from behind by the larger bore cars. If I were running in that group, I'd probably make sure I qualified really well or I'd start from the back and work my way up.
