I've driven a 350z before and it was pretty nice, the interior was actually a little worse for wear on the unit i test drove, I wasn't impressed. The car itself drove nice, but did have some interior rattles coming from the rear of the car over pot holes and pavement seams. hopefully the G35 will be better.
The 2+2 coupe market is really small when you get to looking.
What about the Genesis Coupe? They already are getting 300rwhp on the turbo models! 
I'd have a hard time choosing that over a 400HP/400TQ GTO though...
For the money the GTO seems to be the best bet with '04 models at around 12 grand and 05's 13 and up. Now you said you drove one at an autocross, how was that experience? Where about's did you place in F-Stock and do you think you can be competitive locally in one?
Around here 04's are going for $10K and 05-06's for $12K and up.
I've drag raced and autocrossed John's 05 GTO (LS2/M6) a few times. He ran in STU since his car really is stock (BFG KDW tires!) and still would have wound up 2nd of 7 in F-Stock (1st if we hadn't of walloped a cone on his best run). On R-comps with Stock class mods (cat-back, suspension) he would have trounced them even worse. It also does 13.0's @108 in the 1/4. I think one actually built to the rules would dominate F-Stock thoroughly (in fact we're thinking about doing just that with his).
Cool deal, I figured the weight might make it slower than the F body's but sounds like it should be competitive. I would run it in tire PAX class around here since there are no other real F-stock cars on R compounds that run in our region. Thanks for the info man.
We figured that too (hence running STU first) but 400HP/400TQ is still sooooo much more than the F-bodies and Mustangs have. Plus the rear IRS is really nice. The steering is better than my f-body was as well.
I am going to be picking up a GTO in september as a replacement for my aging golf.
Since I work for the General, and have access to the info. I looked at Claims (warranty) for GTO's both in manufacturers warranty and in GM's protection plan.
Both are Nil, the cars have no known problems or warranty concerns. for the money I don't think you can beat it...and yes I had an M3...

Really? I have heard nasty things about the cone type LSD they use...
Really? 55,000+ miles, 150+ drag strip passes, 50+ autocross runs, and a HPDE/Track Day with no problems in John's. In fact, I've never heard of an LSD problem in these.
Strut rub on improperly sized wheels/tires or bad alignments, stock rotors won't hold up to high-speed braking, and the clutch fluid reservoir needs to be drilled out.
I purchased one each of the GTO and the MS6 in the last 3 months. The GTO is just an amazing car with power, good handling and decent fuel economy. I havent owned a GM car in years and am not sure that this is a real example having been made in Australia but I have been impressed. I havent been in the rear seat but it is a tight fit to get past the door/seat. I dont know if Pontiac closing down will affect the car. The aftermarket support is also very good. I found this one on Autotrader for $13.5k.
The MS6 I found while I was looking for the GTO. Very nicely finished and very fast. The four doors might be a better choice for your purposes. All plus less than 13k miles for $16k.
Hmm the complaint I heard was not centered on actual breakage, well sorta...
My friend got himself a used GTO he was never terribly happy with the way the LSD operated he complained that it acted like an open diff, eventually he brought it into the dealer and they replaced it under warranty (it was a factory certified used car).
After replacing it, he was absolutely in love with it, for about 3 weeks at which point he started complaining that it wast acting like an open diff again...

The back seat was actually not that uncomfortable on the one I looked at, the slide function was rather annoying though, having to wait for the electric motor to move the seat instead of just sliding forward. With the front seat in my driving position there was actually quit a bit of rear legroom. I hopped in to test it out, it would be plenty for my 3 year old lol.

I rode around in a friend's G37 the other day, same complaint on waiting for the back seat motor. I'm not a fan of power seats exactly for that reason, I hate waiting for the damn things to do their job. I'm a big fan of manual seats for many reasons...weight, complexity, utility, etc.

I am thinking about running mine in STU this weekend at Bristol just to see how it does. I took it to the Dragon a week or so ago and just could not get comfortable with the dynamics(but I have 1000's of miata miles to reprogram). The autocross courses on the big black lake at Bristol are usually fast and smooth so we'll see how the GTO runs. At worst it will be retired after one race weekend and I will have to arrange to get the R rubber for the Miata to Bristol for all future events.
