How appropriate: my wife likes wine and I like Porsches. (I also like to whine, but that's a different matter.) Rumor says that at least one former autocross national champion will be there.

Wine Tasting Party Next Saturday July 24th

A great selection of wines (see below) will be presented at our 2nd annual Wine Tasting party at Tim's Wine Market Saturday evening, July 24th. Starting at 6:30, Craig and Kathy Lopus will host the Club at 428 Main St. in downtown Windermere. Like last year, a table with some tasty accompaniements will also be provided. So for only $15 per person, enjoy the wines and fellowship with your Club members (and guests). Please RSVP to Laura Shields at lauraleexoxo@aol.com. See you there.

I have to say, the PCA is not what I expected. My wife likes wine, so I figure we can combine interests tomorrow. Plus Danny Shields will be there.

yeah, I have been to a couple meetings myself. Luckily, most of my local customers are members, so I see a lot of familiar faces. (not necessarily friendly faces, but familiar ones none the less.)

Guess what? We had fun. My wife got to try a bunch of different wines, I got to talk cars.

I got that invite, but the idea and wine and Porsche just seems a bit odd to me I had so much fun at metro ny club events, just cant get into the groove of the club down here, to much social, not enough driver events. But the mag is worth the annual fees, so im still in the club...

my ten year PCA member anniversary certificate just came, it was only 3 years late

It was fun--a nice social break. No cones to shag, no tires to change. Plus, to be honest, it was nice having a car event that was probably aimed more at my wife. She came home with two bottles of wine.

I'm between two regions--Citrus and Space Coast. Citrus has a DE at Roebling in October, and I hope to make it. The club race at Daytona has been cancelled due to the repaving, though.

Maybe I'll have to try it down there. I went to exactly one local PCA function here(and won't do another) shortly after getting the 911 for Mrs.Mini. It was a PCA car show and that was neat, but most of the people we met were rather snobbish and not very friendly. Not a group I think I'd want to socialize with. Heck, one of the wieners there, who spent the whole six hours shining and policing the area around his car, put flippin' mittens on his mirrors, before he pushed the car into his enclosed trailer! Our '82 SC w/130k (that we drive everywhere) was almost as nice and doesn't leak-his did And we drive it!!! On vacation, out for breakfast, just toolin' around, to the grocery store....

Maybe this is a good basis for a column, but here was my first PCA experience:

Someone from the Citrus (Orlando) region invited me to their club race at Daytona. We never hooked up, so I came to the next meeting. You coming to our upcoming autocross? he asked. I don't have a Porsche. So? He replied. I can't vouch for all groups, but both of our local PCA groups have been quite friendly.
