OK, totally self serving here, but I thought it might be fun. I was wondering if anyone was up for meeting for drinks and food at a local pub 1 or 2 times a month. We could shoot the E36 M3, talk cars, just about anything.

My motivation is simple, I don't know anyone in town. What say you? I'm open to any and all locations in TO. I will also do the legwork and make arrangements.

    Any takers?

Would probably work better if it coincided with an event, but this is not the best time of year for that.

How did you end up here, and from where?

I grew up in Detroit. Lived in CA for 15 years, CO for 4.5, and AL for 1. My wife and I are divorcing, so I started looking for a job. I found this one and jumped on it. The company I'm working for is one of the top mass spec companies around.

I've also been toying with the idea of living in Canada or the UK for awhile now. UK is to far to see my kids enough, Canada is tough enough. I've been up here two weeks and I'm loving it. It's such a great city. I could end up being here awhile.

I was thinking something along the lines of the Porsche or BMW club. Some social stuff every month or so. It would also be fun to get some events going. Is SCCA or NASA active up here?

The other thing I'm really considering is karts. Is there an indoor track here? That would be sweet for year round racing.

No SCCA, or NASA, but there's no shortage of events, so you'll find something.

There are plenty of indoor cart venues.

Rally of the tall pines is coming up in a few weeks, and it's a good one.

I sent you a message about some of the local clubs that actually participate in motorsports

There are many car clubs in Toronto that meet on a regular basis and organize events.

Check out the CASC website for a list of clubs. Also, the CASC forum is fairly active as well. (http://www.casc.on.ca)

    Welcome to Canada!

Starting Jan. 6 there is a great place to do some slot-car racing in Brampton(near Toronto). Would be a great place for car guys to go and hang out.

It's called Race Haven(I am not affiliated) and they do 1/32 cars. Looks like fun, I just came from there, I'll be buying a car soon and starting to race in the new year.

i'm from Fl but will be making my 2nd annual trip to Shannonville for the 'May 24 weekend'. Good friend of mine lives in Brampton and has put together a minty '91CRX Si for track days .. wouldn't mind seeing a few GRM'ers from the Great White North while i'm up there ..

I had a very nice CRX built for the street/track in Brampton, wonder if I know him.

    Why the trek to Shanny?
