Not exactly vintage racing, but there were a couple of '80s RX7s and a 240SX in addition to the later machines. I was just a spectator Sunday at the Alaska Sports Car Club ice races at Big Lake, about 60 miles north of Anchorage. Temperatures were near zero, but everyone seemed to be having a great time.
Ice racing is an absolute blast. I was just starting to get involved with these guys about 15 yrs ago, but left the area. Regretted it ever since.
Looks like a good excuse to buy another car. A TR7 coupe would be right at home with the pop-up headlights of the RX7, 240SX, and the 924 Porsche that was there last time.
I was interested to see that the CASC rules require removal of lights due to the danger of breakage. The ASCC racers all run with their headlights on so they can be seen in the flying snow.

Michigan Ice Racing Association (you can google it) runs a series starting as soon as the ice reaches 10 inches deep. A friend and I raced a 3-wheeled car built out of an old Civic CRX Si. It died of rust worm infection after about 10 years. More recently a 92 Honda Accord has been my ride. Sure beats ice fishing! JohnD
