Time for some post Mosport work.

In some photos and video I noticed the car is well sloppy.

Hell the back end look to be moving all over the place.

I never really felt it, but notice I could not take the same lines as other cars without getting out of shape.

So time to work on the shocks/spring.

First bit of good news. The shocks are indeed Koni Sports. Confirmed that the other day.

Just need to tune them up. I hope. I emailed KONI about "rebuild" options. $125 per shock plus shipping back and forth.

Errr I can buy them new for $120 each with 1 less shipment.

So if they fail to respond I may buy a new set. Only issue so far is I can't get the darn rear shock to open up so I can remove the bump stops :) I lifted the bench clean off the ground.

    Time for some mental strength.

Spring. The "racing" spring in the rear is rated for 250LBS 5" wide, 13" tall. I dont know what my current set are LBS wise, but they are 5" wide, but 15" tall. Pondering a small trimming job on the springs?

I will also address the front end shortly with tie rod ends, upper and lower ball joints.

Lots to do. Not sure if I will attend the race in Sept. It depends on the wallet and how I feel.

Also need some spray paint ;)

    Work work work...

If the rear end gets loose too easily, you typically want less roll stiffness back there. I don't know anything about setting up a Fiat 124 for racing specifically, but 250 lbs. sounds pretty stiff for rear springs to me.

Koni's recommendation is to go stiffer on the opposite end of the car from the one that's having the problem.

I don't understand the problem you're having extracting the bump stop. Usually you can just extend the shock all the way, and it either shakes out or you can fish it out with some bent wire. ???

What size roll bar do you have in the Front? Is it adjustable? Are the ends and bushings in good shape?

V Classics is right, you usually go after the opposite end for a handling problem. Case in point, my spit was oversteering like crazy one weekend at the Glen. I tried all the usual things like tire pressure, alignment, loose parts, nothing really helped. I was sure the a tire was going bad. When I jacked up the car to change the tires to my old set, for comparision, I noticed one of the front shocks had broken. The dust cover on the top kept it hidden until I took the load off of it. No spare at the track, a quick trip to a welder and it was reattached well enough for the weekend. Oversteer was gone, the back end stayed planted.

    Never say never.

Got them to open. Removed the bump stops and set them to firm. 5 clicks.

Now for the pesky job of getting the bump back in.

I guess this is one case where having the bounce out of a gal is a good thing LOL

I'm sure Fiona will behave much better next time she's at the track...

Pulled the bump stops off the axle last night.

She was sitting on them so when I rolled off the drive way I was not using the shocks or springs at all. BOUNCE.

Now it seems to be much better, but I want to balance the car.

The one thing I will say about the GT6 vs the FIAT. GT6 is way smaller.

Turns out the front end was affected by the same bump stop issue.

I removed and presto the front end equalized.

In reply to AndreGT6: I'll be there with Brutus unless something really goes wrong. I've invited my brother and we're bringing our boys so it will be a great guys weekend. My brother lives in Quebec so it's a good 1/2 way point. Should be a blast....

    You'll see.

Mosport will shake the fillings out of your teeth.

MT will make you never want to go back.
