Buy a breaker bar. Simple honest advise.

During my last race weekend I was using my short racketing socket to change wheels and service the car.

As a result I pulled a whole whack of muscles in my right rotator cuff, shoulder, back and arm.

    OUCH.

Its been about 2 weeks or more and after my most recent RMT visit I'm not sure whats more painful the injury or the recovery process.

So from one racer to another... Buy the breaker buy.

I'm going to Princess Auto next week.

Better yet, also buy a torque wrench so you can put the wheels back on right.

Yes have one, but never use it to undo the nuts.

And when I'm at home I have air tools.

The best $99 spent, Get the Goodyear racing 24v impact if you can still find them, They were carried by PEP Boys here in the States. I will never go back to the braker bar and ratchet wrench at the track.

I have a Northern Tool house-brand version I bought before they discontinued them (or moved the Klutch brand). I think I paid $80 for it. I wqas very disapponted at first, but after a few uses to loosen up it works well now. It ran off the 20 lug bolts on my TDi (tightened to 100 ft lbs) with ease even after sitting unused in my truck for months. I use it to lightly spin them back on as well, then using a torque wrench for final tightening.

That said, I bought it before DeWalt offered their 18V, 300 ft-lb rated gun as a "tool only" for $150 (vs. $300 for the full kit). I would have bought that instead since I already have some (4) 18v batteries.

I'll second the Goodyear 24V wrench from Pep Boys. I've had mine for years.

CT may have something similar, I doubt it's a Goodyear product.

The Goodyear wrench is nothing more than a branded Chinese tool. I remember looking at it and noticing the battery is exactly the same as my Northern Tool version.

    What a week.

    Been pocked, pulled and twisted.

Working on my posture and foam.

    Slowly healing.

    "We can rebuild him."

BTW 25" 1/2" breaker bar will be on sale next week at PrincessAuto for $12.

I know where I'm going Tuesday morning.

The power tool can wait till next yr.

Congrats! I have the Craftsman version. The flex head and extra length makes rotating an engine by the crank pulley when adjusting valves a bit easier.

Ouch. Then again... when I torqued my shoulder earlier this year (no idea how), the various tests and what not ended up costing me about a 10th of what I paid for my cordless impact wrench... :(

Yeah, Wed I felt nice. Physo went well, but by 6pm I was getting tight. Very rough night. Miserable this morning. ;)

All I can think of is all the stuff I should/could be doing.

    Rather then healing.

My poor cars are in a cold un-finshed garage.

Best laid plans come undone by a few pulled muscles.
