I seek a bike!

Tunakid #2 has this and it's been OK. https://www.rei.com/product/143169/co-op-cycles-rev-24-plus-kids-bike

Tunakid #4 now needs the same size, in a girl friendly hue, teal, light blue or green preferably. I want disc brakes but a rigid fork ideally. I can't find anything close to that price point, not even bikesdirect or bikeisland. I'm willing to go used, but only a little used as this is a birthday present.

And go!

Or less.

This one is currently in the lead despite the brakes. I guess I am not very certain on that need. I checked it out in the store today and it looked nice and felt pretty light.

The one locally for 335 is basically the same deal as this one.

Yeah I wanted them. We bought that one linked above from REI on sale, and basically it's the only disc bike I've seen south of 400, and it was basically 300 on sale.

My ancient specialized still has rim brakes and I weigh more than she will. I'll get better pads if I have to.

The price on that was too good to beat.

I wouldn't be worried about the rim v-brakes, I bet she gets better stopping power out of them compared to a low end mechanical disc. That looks like a nice little bike for her.

kids bikes these days are so expensive.

check out spawn bikes. outrageous prices for a kid. i don't condone buying walmart bikes (heard some of them have a sticker that says warning: not for mountain biking purposes right on the box), but spending 900 dollars on a kids bike is a little much.

nice find! The rim brakes will be fine. Biggest noticeable difference will be wet performance, but most kids don't ride in the rain anyway

good deal on the trek... she should be able to ride it for a few years and then sell it for near what you paid...

and yes for 24" i'd rather the rim stoppers... Vs are so easy to setup... the 1x drivetrain will help her learn to use gears without overwhelming how many gears she has.

when she does get time to move up bikes you should have tons of options at that point but will depend on what kind of riding she wants to do...
