That's great! We have these in our house. They really brighten up dark areas.

That is because the conversation was started by someone from Georgia, where everything is called a Coke. Here is a typical conversation:
Waitress: What will you have to drink?
    Customer: A Coke.
    Waitress: What kind?
    Customer: Root Beer.

uh oh. I usually say soda bottle since im from the west coast, but you caught me. I said coke bottle. Uh oh...

We say "soda" here in the Middle Atlantic up through New England. Pop seems to exist in the midwest... but the first time I encountered "coke" as the generic for any sort of soft drink blew my mind

It's not generic. Coke is just the only acceptable soda.

As cool as that looks, noone has mentioned that it only works when sunlight is hitting it or that there's no on/off switch readily available. Seems like when you would need it the most is when the bottle light isn't working.

So in the worst of times, the room would be as dark as in the best of times before the installation.

YES! They sell it in bottles at the Cracker Barrel in SoPo now, so my enjoyment is no longer limited to the once every few years or so I'm in the VA/NC area. I had brought home a couple six packs last year when I went down to Richmond to pick up my S2000 :).

Amazing how cast off junk can improve people's lives, some people even build race cars that way.

RC Cola and Moon Pie is good but an RC with a pack of salted peanuts is even gooder, boy. Ya dranks about 1/4 of tha' RC, then ya tears the top off tha peanuts, make a funnel with ya hand on tha bottle's neck 'n dump tha goober peas in there (keerful, it'll foam a bit!), then ya sips the RC and crunch tha peanuts. Man, that's good eatin'. If ya can't find an RC, a Co-Cola will do but not that upstart nasty Pepsi stuff.
