    A watch is the one thing I could totally go crazy and throw the budget out the window for. I almost never have an occasion to wear one. I have about five or six that are nowhere near as nice as those posted above. I wear them so infrequently none of them have a charged battery. Nice thread.

    That's one of the reasons I wanted a mechanical movement. I have a nice Seiko that never gets worn because the batter is always dead. The Stauer, I just wind it up and go.

    There's a small watchmaker in Germany I keep an eye on called Tourby (site | eBay) that buys movements and other components from suppliers, finishes them to high spec, then assembles and sells them as complete watches. Their entry-level stuff is nice enough, but it's the masterful hand engraving on their more expensive pieces which makes them showstoppers:

    One more affordable option to add to the pile - Bulova's Accutron line features some really nice Swiss Made models that (due to high production volumes) can often be found online at substantial discounts.
