While being a trailblazer is nice, there is a reason you tend to see certain cars as rally cars. If you decide to get serious, you'll need a real gravel suspension. Real gravel suspensions aren't generally available for all cars. If it has an established rally pedigree, you can usually find something that will work. Weird o never rallied before stuff gets harder to find.
Not that I'm trying to talk you out of anything. Just go in with open eyes.

Triumph TR7. Buick 231ci (three and a half liters?, maybe a lil' bigger) V6 conversion.
Per Jalopnik, that one went to LeMons in 2008. Maybe it's for sale?

IMHO, I think you oughta, just because you can. I'd love to see an 20 year old 'Stang on a hillclimb. Twin-turbo it, decent tires, go to town!BobOfTheFuture wrote:

I understand completely. Im not looking to win stuff outright. From what I have seen cars with out rally-bred suspension still can finish events with some reliability.
That and NY is one of the few states where I canhit 3 events a year and have them all be tarmac.
This is why I am thinking of going an ex-race car route. Which leads me to my next situation-
Ive sold off the MGB, got paid ok. I now have some ok funds to start looking for real. Right now, used rally-preped cars are rare, i assume they are all being run. How feasable is, say a spec focus/e30/etc etc car at doing these events. I know suspension will have to be swapped, but Im more worried about cages and such... Would a road race cage meet the dirt standards?

I assume they would meet hillclimb standards... so thats a plus.
