Well i have been trolling Craigslist after selling the Kaw Ninja for motorcycles but nothing struck me.

So last night, really late, i posted a WTB ad. Simply stated i was looking for a project bike, have cash, gimme a call. Simple.

Within an hour of posting, i get an email. Guy has a 1991 Kawasaki 250 Eliminator he got in a divorce settlement. Has extra parts, ran great, etc and he wanted a few hundred bucks. Wow, that was a quick reply i thought. So i asked for more info and went to bed happy that someone read my ad.

This morning around 11 i get a call and a voice message. Guy has a 1982 Suzuki GS550L, 8600 miles, lots of new stuff on it. Bought a new bike and wants it gone. $400. I call him back within 20 minutes and we talk about the bike.

Within an hour and a half of him calling me im at his shop buying a bike

    Got it down to $250

    Here is is:

Thats me in the last one. (put a username to a face haha)

Ill make a build thread in the Sprockets section but i just had to post here and share with you. Opportunity came along, had the cash and acted quick.

Thanks everyone for your advice from my post in Sprockets section.

BTW. whats this Kawasaki 250 Eliminator? worth buying?

Nice find, my first bike was a 78 GS550. to make it look a bit more like a cafe you can get another seat, ditch those bars and make a spacer to raise the back of the tank up so it isn't sloping down as much.

This was mine I got for $275:

Make sure you post the project. The 250 Eliminator would make a good flip, if you can buy it right. Get it all spiffy and when the weather breaks, it should be good for $500-800 on a quick turn around.

My first street bike was a 88' 250 eliminator, it had the same drivetrain as the ninja, quick and easy to ride.

I've ridden my friend's cafe'd gs550 a few times, and it is a great, great bike. The motor made a lot more power low down than I expected, and really screams up top. Easily my favorite small 4 cylinder bike. Be safe, and have fun!

Every bike that I've built had K&N filters like the ones on the Cafe 550. Every single one of them had a flat spot just above idle. Very annoying when taking off, tuning it up etc. Finally last year in an issue of Cycle World in their "Service Dept." that was explained. Removing the factory air box berkeleys up the flow of air to produce less performance and the infamous flat spot.

    But they look cool.
