kind of a weird question, but i figured some here might be interested or have some advice. basically, i love the way old 911 engines look....the flat layout, the big fan, carbs, all those fun linkages.....really mechanical looking. so, i decided to sit down and draw one out in a blueprint/simple overhead look:

(sorry for the big fat watermark, i'm kind of a PITA about that stuff)

thing is, now i'm not really sure what to do with it, and i'm asking here because everyone on this board seems to be alot more relaxed and open to all kinds of cars than other boards (i can picture showing this on a dedicated porsche forum and hearing about how the bolts look SAE instead of Metric ). is this something guys like you would enjoy having on a t-shirt? maybe just format it for a desktop wallpaper people can download and leave it at that? this isn't really a profit making venture, i'd just like to do something with it that people will enjoy. that's part of the reason i do artwork in the first place.

whadaya think? make a cape out of it? prints? throw it out?

That's OK about the watermark, I have a "tool" in my Photoshop that eliminates them

Put it up on CafePress (or similar) for use on T-Shirts, coffee mugs, etc... ?

I could see it being a poster in a shop, or in a cool mancave. It would be a good shirt too. a patch for race suits, a sticker for your window, even a race graphic for pcar guys. Its a good graphic with lots of applications. Id sure like a wallpaper for my phone (needs to be taller than wide for that to work for my phone Im just sayin)

Nothing new. I've seen lots of red X's before.

Nice illustration! From the varying width lines it looks like you put some time into it. It's got a satisfying illustrated look without the usual generated vector pitfalls. Are you using a wacom tablet or just your mouse? Or by-hand-n-scan?

As is said before, could be used for all types of stuff. Even as an element in a bigger piece.

Put it on a t-shirt with the phrase:

Porsche Drivers Like It In The Rear

    or

    Just Say No To Radiators

One word: Generic. Make sure it's a generic-looking flat six, with no identifiable marks on the illustration. Or, you run the very real chance of at the very least getting a cease and decist order, at the most, law suit for monies made from copyright infringment.

Trust me on this one--someone in the family didn't do the homework, and, well, the company was not happy--even though the T-shirt was very complimentry.

Quantity, quality, and visibility (where you advertising) would have a LOT to do if anything legal happens. Hate to be the party pooper, but, seen it happen. In reality, I don't think you'd get in trouble with running off a dozen for your friends. Putting it on ebay with a run of 50, and well....your gamble.

Browser will not let any of the drawings through.

you know what, shame on me. i didn't even think about that. thanks!

thank you. went from hand sketch, to vector w/a wacom and good ol' mouse. i sat and stared at old Pelican Parts assembly drawings until my face was melting off.

well, i think i might just do a few t-shirts for some buddies and just make it a desktop wallpaper for anyone who wants it. i'll put up a link when its formatted.

The graphic is nice and all, but I have to say the bolts look more SAE than metric

    Seriously, Nice job.

I have a thing for t-shirts with techincal/dorky diagrams on them - wearing a wiring diagram for two four-wire humbuckers with coil tap and phase switch through push-pull pots right now, as a matter of fact. So this is right up my alley.

Now, if you wanted to make one out of an oiling diagram for some obscure engine, you'd have a guaranteed sale right here.

    Nice work.
