I figured since us BMX guys had the thread i'd figure I ask the skateboarders here. What are some of the old school greats you have videos of or watch, mainly freestyle and flatland, even new guys, as that's what i'm learning into and always been interested in. Yes I have watched Rodney Mullen and am currently reading his book

Freestyle is dead but it still exists way underground. Freestyle essentially became street. Check out some of the current tech street that's getting thrown down (maybe check out the SKATE contests at The Berrics). Mind-boggling flip tricks.
Check out Chris Haslam, Chris Cole and Eric Koston for some recent sick tech stuff.
Almost Round 3 is almost 10 years old now, but it's a classic vid. Maybe check out the Lakai "Fully Flared" vid from 2007 as well--some epic stuff there.
As for oldschool--Santa Cruz--Wheels of Fire is hard to top.
For some reason your thread reminded me of the Hoodoo Gurus....I think because of all the o's you put into guru.

I grew up playing Pro Skater so any of those guys i've always watched, Eric Koston has always impressed me for being street. While you are right about it essentially becoming street, I think flatland is still going strong, just like you said, in the underground.

This was my skateboard era and freestyle was already on the way out, no one did it in the scene I was in, probably because no one could do it, its pretty crazy. Still have my "Bonite" Lance Mountain future primitive, G&S trucks, Bones III wheels.

I still break out the Powell/Peralta Barbee board from time to time.
In 1982, I helped build a ramp in my neighborhood. As was typically required, all the wood was mostly stolen. I was not the coordinator. I know one source for wood was a new bridge being build. Wood for the jobsite was dropped into the river the bridge went over. About a mile down river, closer to our house, we fished out the wood and more incocently brought the stuff home.
The ramp was 16ft wide with 8ft of flat. The drop in deck was 8ft off the ground and the other side had an extra 4 feet of vert.
