I spent an hour at the local photo shop today. I picked up a polarizing filter, a 2 stop neutral density filter, and a 28-70mm lens for my Pentax. Then, I talked to Russ, who has been shooting for us and selling us stuff for years. He said that IR film was a pain, because you have to keep it frozen. I don't want to fly with a cooler. Any other way to do it?

Thanks for all the advice so far, guys.

Just ordered the 120-400. $754 shipped from 47th street photo. I think I'm ready for the trip.

Sorry to pull this thread from the grave, but +1,000,000 on the polarizing filter. Do you have a lens hood/sun bonet? Those are also a great tool.

What software are you using? CS2/3? If so, the best way to convert to B/W is, IIRC, under chanelles(sp?). Switch to monochrome and play with the R/G/B sliders. Just keep the total value between the 3 at 100 and you can get the same effect as shooting B/W film with r/g/b filters. This process will net you far better B/W than just clicking the B/W button.

i just hope this will be of use
