    ... is Sarah Palin.

By not setting foot on stage with that Cavalcade of LosersĀ® she instantly distances herself from the field. I'm no fan of hers, but I have to give her props for being crafty.

And, seriously, how did Michelle Bachmann get elected to any sort of public office? Was she running against a broken chair? Did the chair molest a kid? Still, it must have been close between her and the kid-touching broken chair.

And I apologize in advance for starting a possibly inflammatory political thread. I'll probably regret it. But I could not watch that trainwreck any longer without saying something. The whole thing is making me hate politics even more, if that were even remotely possible.

I knew better than to watch that drivel. Usually it's nothing but loaded questions, agenda driven answers, and drivel. I'll pass until the herd gets thinned down a little.

I have been watching this off and on over the past few weeks.. I honestly do not see any outstanding leaders in the Republican party stepping up..

    What's up with that?

The appropriation of the Republican Party by "social" conservatives, rather than fiscal ones. Barry Goldwater tried to warn folks about this years ago.

I'm a leftie..but I sure miss the days when "the loyal opposition" were still capable of compromise, and not wedded to the batBMWE36 crazy part of this nation.

I suspect "The Fix is In" for The O's reelection. His socialism agenda isn't done yet. The R's, most of whom are in on the plan, are letting him run with it because the end result of all socialism/communism/totalitarianism systems is... The rich get richer and the middle class gets eliminated. Once again, this election will be lost in the R primary. We are the Cavalcade of LosersĀ®.

And I'm wondering where Skappes it Over or his replacement is. Did his funding get cut from Soros? Or just not close enough to the election to show up yet?

Bachman's already jumped the shark, she hired a loser of a campaign manager. As for the rest, I'm underwhelmed so far. Maybe Hermain Cain, just to see the liberal media have fits.

I mean, I'd vote for a republican turnip before I voted democrat. I live in a state that was democratic for 100+ years and it got us nowhere. I can't trust them.

Wha? I spent a lot of time at St. A's growing up in goffstown. Where do you live/work?

Also, the college is in Goffstown, not ManchVegas. Media turds.

Right, socialism. Because we didn't have police & fire departments, public schools, paved roads, or subsidized crops & petroleum before Obama came along.

She's also compared raising taxes to the Holocaust, wants to gut $4.5bn in funding from Veterans Affairs (support the troops, eh?), and called Planned Parenthood a front for underage human trafficking. She also spied on a GLBT rally (not that well, actually):

Bachmann is dangerously stupid and ignorant, and proud of it. Sadly, her constituents are the same way.

OT: what on earth is the reasoning behind said term? I've heard it for years, and at no point has that city remotely resembled Las Vegas (well, I guess the TGI Friday's is open pretty late).

Theres always a party somewhere in manchvegas

Really, for the largest city in the state, its not that big a city. The term is mostly ironical.

In reply to oldsaw: So what do you think socialism is, then? Bonus points for pointing out how what Obama has done (ignoring the fact that Congress is the body that formed and passed any relevant legislation) is any different than what has come before.

How about a simple link to a dictionary's definition?

    http://www.merriam-webster.com/dictionary/socialism

As far as scoring points, why in the world are you thinking we're engaged in some kind of contest?

Aww, and here I was hoping there was some sort of seedy underbelly that had previously eluded me. I guess it will remain "that place with all the strip malls and car dealers where the cheap airport is" in my worldview.

In reply to oldsaw: Show us how any of the things I mentioned are not covered in the very definition you linked to. I'll show the first one here for kicks:

Socialsm: 1: any of various economic and political theories advocating collective or governmental ownership and administration of the means of production and distribution of goods

You mean like police & fire departments, public schools, paved roads, or subsidized crops & petroleum?

    Gasp.

I am glad it is becoming clear to the public she's a loon. But she really needs to team up with Palin for a ticket, that would be highly entertaining in a Hindenburg crashing into the Titanic kind of way.

Dude, seriously? I'm not trying to be your "enemy" here, (because we've had so many great conversations on so many other threads, and GRM forums are so much better than others about letting us talk about our different opinions)..but think about it for a minute. Real socialism isn't all that crap that Marx & co. tried to shove on the impoverished millions for his own ego, but a simple agreement that if we all have to pay taxes, that money should be used to improve our society. IMO, if roads were "privatized", there'd be a toll booth every 100ft. (I exaggerate, I know.. ) If people had to pay out of pocket for police & fire protection, many would die. Aren't people more important than money?

I have to admit, one of the reasons I'm so dissapointed with President Obama is that the "health care reform" he finally decided to support is (again, IMO) a multi-million dollar gift to private insurance companies. Forcing people who are already poor to buy private health insurance coverage isn't "socialism". Perhaps the subsidies the gov't claims they will provide is, but to me it seems like a complete waste of money (because the initial concept is so flawed). There'll eventually be a "need" for a new gov't agency to oversee the program. Does that sound like "limited government" to you, sir?

Oldsaw, you know I love ya (in a Bud Light commercial sort of way). I just really disagree with you on this stuff.
