Didn't he get fired for an extremely non-PC rant? I don't remember who he was ranting against. I guess he got hired back so he can retire. Still, at 92, he's had a good run.

Except for a few Andy Rooney segments I haven't watched 60 minutes in decades.
I hardly ever watch any type of national news since it hardly ever applies to me or my area. If it applies to my area then there will always be a story on the local news.

Heck, at least 60 minutes hasn't succumb to the "lets just do an hour on some court case" B.S. You know, present it like the guy is innocent, then spring the actual evidence of the crime about 3/4 of the way in and make it seem like some sort of revelation! Basically the news magazine version of a reality show.
That's pretty much all 48 hours runs (completely abandoning the whole original point of the show) and I have noticed that 20/20 has started to to a lot of those now.

Andy Rooney and Donald Trump....do you suppose they have the same barber? Stopped watching the last few minutes of "60 Minutes" because those VERY bushy eyebrows of Mr. Rooney were way too distracting.
Andy Rooney: living proof that an Irishman can spin HOURS of talking out of seconds of trivia (and I am half Irish, with 6 uncles, so I know whereof I speak).

He did a piece back in the late 1970s or early 1980s about the high cost of the M1 Abrams tank, which was built by Chrysler. He figured out how many Chrysler Cordobas the government could have bought for the price of one Abrams, and allowed as how based on his own war experience the Cordobas would have been a lot more useful.
I thought the mental image of thousands of Chrysler Cordobas storming into battle was pretty funny.

I used to estimate 80% of Americans were depressed when they heard that 60 minutes ticking..........
All students were depressed their homework was not done or the big project was not finished
Most employee's were not happy their weekend was almost over and that their favorite sports team had lost earlier that day.
I figure the only happy people were retiree's and barbers.

60 Minutes was responsible for teaching me the truth about Santa Claus. I remember sitting on the floor after a football game ended and they rolled right into a story on whether or not you should tell your kids that there is a Santa.
