I can't tell if people on this board check before they throw crap out here or not.

Jeep GC are avaailable with the diesel in the US.

So the price to import the engines from Britain is too high to be able to sell the cars at a reasonable price point and the costs of building a brand new plant in Mexico (which everyone has decried anyway) is too expensive and would take too long to build is all Ford's fault?

I won't buy this diesel or any other diesel until I can actually find diesel gas nearly everywhere. I have about a 20 mile drive to find diesel around here. I've had to buy a ton of it for a Cat I've been using and it's a pain. Plus all the big cheap gas stations don't carry diesel so you have to go to the expensive stations which makes it a $1 more a gallon.

The uncertainties of being able to find gas when I need it and the high costs of said gas simply don't make a diesel vehicle of any type attractive.

So when will they create a urine converter to create the urea needed to reduce the NOx in the MB diesel? All those Calvin stickers would be used for something good for a change!

Again unless the diesel gets 300% better mileage the added cost of ownership plus the higher fuel cost makes no sense to me.

thats odd, since its not listed in the powertrain options when you do the "build your jeep" thing, and is only listed if you click on "see all MPG ratings" the model pages also don't mention anything about diesel options either.

Searching Autotrader, though, I found that "used" 2007 models with less than a hundred miles on the clock could be had for less than $30k.

You can get a benz with a manual transmission!?!?!?! An e-class no less?

In the rest of the world, MB's are taxi cabs. Here they are a status symbol.

    76 MPG Volvo's we won't get

Sign me up for a C30 with a diesel. Those wheels don't look half bad for being eco friendly'eqsue.
