As far as I'm concerned intentionally hitting (or trying to hit) someone on a bike or on foot with a car = attempted murder.

I feel bad for the biker but I am also wondering if there isn't more to the story. A double yellow pass? Could have been some road rage on both sides.
With all the things people have done to prevent me from making legal passes while riding a motorcycle... like swerving in my lane or speeding up... I really doubt it was anything but a huge jolt of testosterone.
I've even had people swerving around in front of me, watching me in their rear view, when I wasn't even trying to pass.

Greg, to the best of my recollection, I've never lived in a state that allows "lane splitting"..but dogbreath's got a good point. I acually quit riding shortly after I moved to Atlanta Metro, and saw that the occasional shiny happy person that hated bikers out in the rural areas seemed to be fully half of the population here. Had a big scare not long after I moved here, and quit riding. Every time I've climbed back on a bike ever since..I just never felt like I could get "back in sync" in traffic. Yeah, if I lost my nerve, so be it. The US ain't Europe..people (other than enthusiasts) can't drive worth a E36 M3, and many of them have a hatred of bikes that I doubt I have the ability to understand.

Their women prefer motorcyclists. That's hard on the old ego.
