I know that there a lot of shooters here, so I thought I'd ask if anyone has used Dunk-Kit.

Cleaning the Glocks and revolvers is piece of cake, but I'm thinking about getting a kit specifically for my Ruger Mark II, which, as we know, is a PITA to clean. I usually put at least 1000 rounds through it each time I go to the range. It would be nice to only disassemble it every third trip or so and just soak it between.

Any thoughts?

Never heard of them. Though the Mark II is a pain to clean. We have a stainless one, and its a tough to reassemble. Sure helped when I figured out the magazine was supposed to stay in the gun...

How much are these dunkits?

I've reassembled mine a hundred times, but never with the magazine in place. I don't think it's supposed to be (I've never even heard that before), but I think I see why it might work. I'll have to give it a try.

Maybe it's not supposed to be, but isaw a guy on YouTube don't it that way, and it helped me alot. It usually would take me 45 minutes to get the gun back together, and the time I did it with the mag on place (I've only done it once, after the last time we went shooting) took way less time.

I've read about Ed's Red, but it doesn't sound like a direct replacement for the Dunk Kit. I'm not sure I'd want to submerge a pistol in it.

Honestly, I can probably assemble it in about five minutes, but even thinking about the process is a pain in he ass. Total disassembly, cleaning and reassembly probably takes about half an hour. It would be nice to come back from the range, drop it in the bucket for the night and then run a rod through it and towel it off the next day.

I've had some customer feedback on Dunk-it. Supposedly works well but you've got to take the grips off, and I'm not sure it's the best thing to immerse tritium sights/white paint into. Take that feedback for what you paid for it.

I actually wrote to Hoppe's a few years ago and suggested that they make an air freshener that I can hang from my cars mirror.

Have you tried cleaning it in a ultrasonic cleaner? You can pick one up on the cheap from harbor freight. I've used one for firearms for years in the gunsmithing business.

I had a Mark II years ago and the first time I took it apart to clean I thought I was never going to get it back together. It was a great shooting gun though.

Getting the slide or whatever its called out is not so bad, but I have a ton of trouble getting it back in, or, more precisely the mechanism that holds the slide.

My Walther is much much much easier to take apart and clean.

the only problem I ever had with the Mark II was that lever spring that goes in the handle. That can be a pain, the rest is not too bad.
