Any fellow GRMers stuck in ATL right now? I came home for some leave and then Mother Nature decided to punish the Northeast part of the country.

The Atlanta airport is the only place I can possibly imagine that could be worse than Iraq. I feel your pain. Sorry man.

ATL isn't as bad as some airports (Houston I'm looking at you). I'll just browse ebay and CL until my head explodes (since my chances of flying out today are probably nonexistent).

Yeah, there's worse places to get stuck. At least you can (theoretically) escape using MARTA. If you feel like venturing out for a bite, head here: http://atlanta.citysearch.com/profile/3027028/college_park_ga/barbecue_kitchen_of_...

If you think Houston (either airport) is worse than Atlanta, you're not doing something right.

I haven't flown through Houston in a few years, but I remember it was never a good place to be. ATL I think just opened a new terminal. At least where I was all day seemed very nice. At any rate now I'm stuck in a hotel, and I fly tomorrow morning.

Anybody else from Atlanta metro ever get weird looks when you tell folks you're not transferring to another flight?
I also get asked what is it that I do for a living where I'm "forced" (Grrr..) to live in Atlanta..as if we're some sort of one-horse town.

And WTFmi, hope you had a good leave (you too, Drewcifer!). You & Drew keep your heads down over there!

I got stuck in ATL once many moons ago, because the runways got shut down. Something about hail and a tornado or some such nonsense. I was saddened when there was no pinball machines... I was less saddened when one of the overpriced movie stores let me prowl through the inventory on the house, understanding my plight. I was also not saddened when I discovered smoking lounges there.

I forget where, but I'm pretty sure some place in ATL airport is a mock-up of Super Mario's dungeons. I didn't even feel like I was in an airport anymore; more that I was underneath somebody's deli. I was pretty certain that I was going to run into the mole men any minute.

I don't know if it's still that way, but back when I was dating the English girl (5yr ago), she discovered that smoking was allowed in the bar on the International concourse. Only place where you can have a drink (or even coffee) and a smoke at the same time.

Nope leave doesn't start until you hit your final destination. I just gotta call SATO to change my return flight. So this just delayed me going back and doing nothing.
Oh yeah, I fly in 30 minutes! (And it's just the B Concourse that's nice. I was just in C and D, not so much).

Hi wherethefmi,
Thank you for the link…I understand that any shoe is better than no shoe but isn't this like giving B-1 pilots free transponders as a gesture of kindness?
Opps...the picture won't import...probably too large.
Anyway, I was referring to the one with the kid trying on the dayglow green Crocs.
