Shove racing? Sorta like trailer racing but in reverse.

Idea popped into my head. Two car teams, one car something enormous like an old Sedan Deville or Electra or similar monstrosity. Other car, small/light, Geo Metro-ish. Basic concept of it would be to shove the little car around the track with the big car. First team to get both cars across the line, wins. Bonus points if run on say, a figure 8. Sounds like my kinda fun... curious to know if it exists or if I might be on to something here.

A bit like train racing (small car chained to empty small car chained to big car which provides the power). Doesn't sound substantially more dangerous than that. The pusher squishing the pushed car would be the only concern, which could be addressed with bracing perhaps.

Yeah, I was figuring old style cop nerf bars, and a welded to the subframe plate or something on the back of the smaller car. Plus really, the big cars are all gonna be dogs anyhow, and shoving around another 1500lb car isn't going to be doing the top end any favors.... but damn it would be fun.

Do you need a driver in the front car in order to steer it? Because that could be hazardous. I think the biggest concern would be one of the little cars getting creamed by an opponent.

Driver would be in the front car, yes. I can see it being hazardous, but no more so than any typical trailer/figure 8/death race they've come up with these days. If they can race school buses and campers, they can race this. One thing I've not decided on is if the front car has an engine. I'd think not, because I can see an underpowered light little bugger being as fast on the local asphalt oval as a big heavy boat mobile.

I got a couple brothers in law, and one son in law, I'd put in the front car.
