FYI, all the retailers start receiving x-mass merhandise in Sept. I got a full LED christmas tree for display once on Spet 2. And Sears just had their "early black friday" sale this past weekend. Only 7 weeks to the jolly man day. I worked retail for many, many years--and may be going back in an upper mgmt role. After a couple of years, I began to HATE christmas with a passion. Anything associated with it. Stopped shopping; evreybody got a gift card. Three years ago, the workers in a dept store in Poloand (?) eastern european counrty, threatened to strike if the store did not stop playing christmas songs. Mgmt caved. Workers won. We threw a party in their honor.

what's even more sad is that christmas decorations were up for sale at some stores about 3 weeks ago
I might listen to christmas music for all of one song, on christmas day, if I can't avoid it

Christmas music in stores, 2 months before Christmas, assures me I'm capable of murder.

Two Weeks ago I was in Los Angeles for a few days. My wife I an walked past a retail area that was fully decked out with Christmas Decorations. My wife had pretty much had the same reaction as the OP. I said, "This is LA. I wonder if these are early Christmas decorations or if this for movie or something?" We came back later in the day and there was a film crew there filming an episode of the of "The Closer." Next day all the Christmas decorations were gone.

In reply to Otto_Maddox:
Wait, you like that droning excuse for music called "One Christmas Catalogue?" I hate X-mas music, having had to listen to it for 8-12 hours of the day when I used to work in retail and "One Christmas Catalogue" and "Do They Know It's Christmas" were the worst of the lot. All they did was amplify my feelings of wanting to slit my wrists in front of the shiny happy people I had to deal with all day.
This is my favorite Christmas song:

I thankfully got out of retail before they started christmas 4 months before the holiday... I could not imagine being forced to listen to christmas music eight hours a day for weeks and months.. just being in the mall or a store with it playing is torture enough
