The local Cabela's had an Armalite AR50 for sale for just over $3,000K. I don't have that kind of money, nor do I have any use for such a thing. So why do I want it so bad? How do I convince the wife that this is a good idea for home security? (I can shoot them when they exit the freeway, 2 miles before they get to our house!)

I'd say you want one because you've never actually shot one. Do it some time, that will usually take care of your interest.

Damn and I had just gotten over my obsession with Barretts.

    That ^ (what foxtrapper said.)

A .308 or an assault rifle is fun. 50 cal is just painful.

I still plan on getting a Desert Eagle after my AK and Para.

    Overweight jamamatics.

Also, you all should get those giant vaginas on your shoulders looked at if you're calling the Barrett (heavy, semi-auto, HUGE muzzle brake) "painful." My super lightweight 30-06 kicks more.

Three million bucks is a lot of money for a rifle...

I just wish I had a nice, long range to really work one of those.

Yeah, having a rifle like that and only a 50 or 100 yard range is like owning a supercar and only being able to drive it in the subdivision.

Never shot the .50. A friend shot one prone. Knocked him back three feet. I don't know what it was, nor weather it was auto or bolt, nor weather it had a muzzle break. Hit the ground in front of the guy knocking him into the air.

He was prone and shot the ground in front of him, knocking him three feet back into the air? I'm not sure I believe this, but even so, why are you guys letting someone that obviously doesn't know how to properly fire a weapon do this?

The guy he was aiming at. Not himself. (not to say he didn't jump, there were rocks flying up at him.)

Perhaps you know someone who needs to be taught a lesson?

One of you is massively exaggerating. Massively.

Unless he was on a skateboard.

    Meh. I wasn't there.

And of all things to call my shoulders you pick the most common thing to take a pounding. I would expect more from you. Maybe suggest I'm a Bob Costas or something next time.

You know you're not literally supposed to pound them, right?

You want that because its awesome. I shot one last year around this time and I loved it. The kick is nothing to write home about; my mosin nagant kicks WAY more. However, I was shooting off a bipod and those have HUGE muzzle breaks. Word to the wise, rounds are $6 each.

I also shot a Luger, an M1919 and an M1 Garand that day. My friend's dad has all the fun toys

When I was 13 I shot an '03 Springfield. I didn't have it properly anchored into my shoulder and I was far too relaxed. That steel butt plate gave me a kick I will never forget.
