Not really hate, I was just always preferred wagons. Had a 81 Malibu Wagon for a long time. Wife stuck it under a truck. Also had a Oldsmobile Custom Cruiser. It would tow as much as a truck. It's more a front engine RWD thing than a Mini Van thing. We made the switch because you really couldn't get a newer big wagon (other than those ugly GM ones) and the Custom Cruiser burned gas like a super tanker. I guess you can say I got drug to the future kicking and screaming. Once we got here, it's not so bad. I still keep my eye out for a Malibu and the Dodge Magnum is pretty cool too. I don't think my wife is willing to go back though.

I'm sure with these new V6 engine mounts coming out for Civacs and so on and those swaps becoming more popular, we will see a slight aftermarket for those engines boom.

I guess I liked the concept of the progressive bujmp stop as you never really had to adjust it, and it's a much simpler bolt-on process. For something like this, install and forget would be my preference.

Timbrens worked pretty well on the Xterra.

Question for Per: Why get the fancy bump stops for $200 when you can get helper air springs for $90? I don't know much about them, but I know some people on Odyclub were adding air springs. Your post was the first time I'd ever heard of the bump stops.

I disagree. I have no need to purchase one. My father in law keeps quoting things about how they are great on storage and the ride is nice. Two things I really don't need at this time. I'll get a wagon when I need more room, I like them better.

Recliners, minivans, playing golf.. all things that happen when your soul dies.

edit: forgot to indicate that I'll probably own one.. but most likely will need a sprinter as the wifey wants 6 kids

Well, you could always look at Astros. Front engine, RWD.

The Astros are cool. There is a local guy that has one with a 350 swap the will get it done. Unfortunately they don't like towing a 20' box trailer or a 20' boat. I've got a E150 with the 5.4 for hauling that does a fair job as long as the roads are flat and the gas stations aren't too far apart. For towing upstate, I borrow my fathers Dodge 2500 with the Cummings. That truck is a beast. I hauled his 35' camper to the Lemons race in SC and got 12.5 MPG running 70-80 on the interstate. For what the Dodge costs, I can put a lot of gas in the Ford. It spends most of its time sitting.

Safastros have bizarre tiny little footwells, and only one sliding door. They could really use double or triple the rear spring rate to handle any tow load with a decent tongue weight. That said they drive just fine, get adequate fuel economy, are cheap to buy and maintain, and they are a simple V8 swap away from being entertaining.

Late to the party but I noticed Per said the Odyssey has the Ridgeline transmission which is rated for 5k vs 3500lbs tow capacity. I don't know enough about the Odyssey but I've done a lot of research on the Ridgeline as I've been wanting to buy a car like SUV+Truck and it's the only one that fits the bill despite the ugly exterior.

Anyway, despite the common belief that the Pilot, Odyssey and the Ridgeline share the same frame, the Ridgeline has an integrated boxed frame in addition to the unibody structure which is why it's rated higher than the Odyssey and the Pilot.
