Golden Earing's Radar-Love is THE BEST driving song ever!!! But Molly Hatchet's Flirtin' with Disaster or Red Barchetta by Rush aint bad

Golden Earing's whole Moontan album is good to drive to. And Radar Love is the shortest song on there!

I'm actually leaning Rob Zombie on this one, to me his solo stuff is a bit more driveable.

i usually listen to something with a fast tempo, like Punk music.

    Old Unwritten Law

    Pennywise

    Bad Religion

I found that if i listen to smooth jazz, i drive real slow, usually holding up traffic...

No, you aren't the only one. Some of us have just been been busy being the "working man" and all that. I didn't get 2112 as my land speed racing number by chance.
    Good to hear!

I think a good many of their songs are great for driving to. I think spirit of radio and red barchetta get me going the most when im in the car.

I like to drive to Dreamline and Roll the Bones, but will do to any of them. I had them playing when I made my first run down at Maxton too.

Some of the other stuff listed here is good too. I agree with the Doors, Allman Bros, Deep Purple (Space Truckin' in the Ram with the trailer attached is nice, Highway Star should be in a car only) Zeppelin, Black Sabbath (early Ozzy or Dio stuff only), Priest, Maiden, etc. Some Pink Floyd is good in the car. Not The Wall or Final Cut, but Animals is a good one to drive to.

Ministry & White Zombie I usually save for demolition work.

I've gotten spoiled with the satellite radio though. Usual driving will go from the classic hard rock channel to the blues channel to the Jam Band channel. The Grateful Dead station can be good for some long drives, at least when the tune isn't too trippy. Can be good for combating road rage too.

Not sure if anyone here has heard of Cowboy Mouth, but, yeah, them.

    Or Bob Seger.

Cowboy Mouth is AWESOME! Have you ever been to one of their concerts?

BTW, I choose Jimmie Eat World, Steelie Dan, Counting Crowes (not necessarily in that order).

For rippin' it up: I'd say The Cult but mostly I use the open exhaust since there is no radio in the car I use for this.

For top down sunny-day cruising: Older Chicago, Janis Joplin, Segar, Allman Bros, Stones - long list

On the funky side of things, any Jamiroquai does the trick for me. Any George Benson before he started singing and playing smooth jazz works great on a sunny day or clear night in the summer..

Also, MJ's first couple solo albums (Off the Wall, Thriller) are great too.

Now, my favorite thing to listen to while commuting/long distance driving is NPR. It's great when I can listen to whole hour-long interviews that are genuinely interesting.

Driving in anger: Lamb of God/Burn the Priest. I have to consciously not put E36 M3 like that in if I'm going to be driving in traffic.

'Cruisin' around in pimp-type fashion: I'll have to second THE METERS!

Sunday drive in the mountains: Van Morrison.

I like all kinds of stuff. This morning's rainy commute was enhanced by screaming metal courtest KSE, though. This afternoon, probably EITS to keep me from killing some bonehead keeping me from getting home in an expedient manner.

I subjected my kids to James McMurtry's classic "Choctaw Bingo" on the way to school this morning, too. Good tune, for those inclined to dig outlaw country/ roots rock/ 'Murricana. :)

Everyone tends to just put their favorite music on these lists.

On a nice weekend roadtrip, Sirius Real Jazz, Chill or Classic Vinyl is nice.

I dunno. I don't really have any set favorite bands to drive to. I used to dig driving to Chemical Bros "Dig Your Own Hole" but that was a long time ago.
