In high school I kept a VHS copy of Blues Brothers in the trunk of my car. It got played at almost every party we went to. Wore that tape out. I think I'll put the DVD on tonight.

We used to play a tape of the car chase when driving around in college. Audio tape, not video. It does add spice to an otherwise pedestrian trip.

If you like this type of music, I highly recommend the some what obscure record, Jumpin' Jive by Joe Jackson. In 1981 he (and band) put out a great cover album of "The Greats"
Follow this link and at the bottom of the page you can sample the whole album.

My wife and I just finished watching the DVD tonight. It was exactly what we needed. I'll be humming "Sweet Home Chicago" as I fall asleep tonight.

My brother and I were RAISED on that movie. I cannot recall how many times we watched it on VHS and TV. Must have been at least twice a week from the time we were tots to teenagers.

I really need to watch it again now

Probably the best soundtrack ever, too. I have it on 3 mediums! Vinyl, Cassette, CD, and then recorded from Vinyl to Cassette, and on my ipod

    American Graffiti for soundtrack...

    Got that one too!

Replacing the Caddy. As far as the other film goes, I shall not mention it's name...

I have to be the dissenting voice for BB2000. Yes, the movie sucked. But let's forget that it is a movie for a minute and pretend that your watching a series of Music Videos with dumb commercials in between. For a fan of the Blues, this is a dream lineup!

    John Popper
    Lonnie Brooks and Junior Wells
    Aretha Franklin
Eddie Floyd, Wilson Pickett with Jonny Lang on guitar and vocals
Taj Mahal, Sam Moore and Cab Blues (on John the Revalator)
Dr. John on Season of the Witch
    Erykah Badu (amazing)

    The Louisiana Gator Boys, featuring:

    B. B. King
    Jeff Baxter
    Gary U.S. Bonds
    Eric Clapton
    Clarence Clemons
    Jack DeJohnette
    Bo Diddley
    Jon Faddis
    Isaac Hayes
    Dr. John
    Tommy McDonnell
    Charlie Musselwhite
    Billy Preston
    Lou Rawls
    Joshua Redman
    Paul Shaffer
Ms. Koko Taylor (whom I have partied with, long story)
    Travis Tritt
    Jimmie Vaughan
    Grover Washington, Jr.
    Willie Weeks
    Steve Winwood

And of course the Blues Brothers, admittedly with John Goodman, but you still have:
    J. Evan Bonifant
    Steve Cropper
    Donald Duck Dunn
    Murphy Dunne
    Willie Hall
    Tom Malone
    Blue Lou Marini
    Matt Murphy
    Alan Rubin

Buy the soundtrack and forget the movie!

PS - Frank Oz was in the sequel too.

    DING!

Dodge Monaco is the correct answer.

    As for the confusion:

Elwood: "So, is it the new bluesmobile or what?"

    Jake: "Fix the cigarette lighter"

So, the Monaco would be the new Bluesmobile.

Anyone know the origins of the Cheese Whiz scene? It always made me laugh, but it seemed weird, too. They parodied it on Family Guy, so I can't be the only one.
