Blues Traveler friggin' rocks. listening to "Save His Soul" right now, after spinning their self-titled CD earlier tonight. John Popper has a great voice and can blow harp like nobody's business.
All you jam-band haters can step off!

That was the last good Blues Traveler album IMHO. I was way into them in the early 90's. The band I was in in college used to cover "Love of my Life"--and we weren't a jam band--we were way more grunge.
"Love of My Life" was a spectacular song that was massively overlooked (but I'm glad it never got played out as a result). Great lyrics--makes me get all nostalgic/sappy. Killer guitar solo.
The whole album is great--haven't listened to it in years, though.

I thought I was the only one still listening to them. We used to see Blues Traveler play at some clubs in NYC from time to time. A friend of mine has a harmonica from John Popper, although it didn't sound nearly as good for any of us.

Blues Traveler is one of those "Auuuugh! Change the channel!" bands. I don't know why, but their music just gives me a headache. Kind of like Rascal Flatts.

My cousin and I went to see them in New Haven a few years back. Music was great but the crowd was mostly chain smoking 16 year olds. I think we actually bailed out early and went to a bar.

We saw them play here in NW AR a few years ago. I won tickets by calling in the radio. They were after a big 60's band that I forget. Brothers, black, from NOLA, pretty much hitting geezer status, and the lead singer had a cold. Then Blues Traveler was on after them. Like Woody sez, bunch a chain smoking kids. They were good in Blues Brothers 2K.

Live from the Fall is probably one of the better live albums i've ever heard. I think Straight on Til Morning was probably their last good album. I haven't seen it but supposedly John Popper used to have a big compound in PA about a half hour from where I live.

I missed them. Last weekend they were playing about an hour and a half drive from here near a friend's place,but as is all too often the case. I had to work.

Exactly. The three albums before "Four" were really good and got almost no radio play.

Well, I have to thank Blues Traveller for having The Tragically Hip open for them year's ago in Charlottesville. Went to the show, watched The Hip, and off I went. Great night.

Ah, my hometown band. They played my high school in 1985 (!). We weren't impressed, but then we loved The Smiths, The Cure, and all the other English alternative bands at the time.

Going off on a jam band related tangent here but I found a couple Phish albums (Round Room and Undermind) at Dollar Tree and snagged both of them. They are pretty decent studio albums but I think they are a better band in a live setting..

Nice find! They're not my favorite Phish studio albums, but there's some good stuff in there.
I saw BNL open up for the Hip in 1990, I think. Great concert, although I might have been paying more attention to my company than the bands at the time.

BNL opening for The Hip - I think that'd be the other way around now... Great bands though!
Saw Counting Crows and Augastana last night, um, interesting show. They played essentially the entire show together, played each other's stuff, played a bunch of stuff by obscure country and folk artists. Not what I was expecting but it was fun, right up until the drunk girl behind me doused me with beer

Of the two, I like Round Room more. Undermind has some good songs but just seems like a bunch of ideas running off in a million directions. I'm going to seek out A Live One since it seems like that is the cream of the crop of them live. I dig Trey's solo stuff and also Vida Blue..

I saw Blue Rodeo open for the Hip . . . and they were much better than the headliners.

I enjoyed seeing Blues Traveler live about 10 years ago, but I may have enjoyed seeing John Popper playing a smaller venue live to support his solo album Zygote even more. I'm really a fan of that album.
