I would have already gotten some Timberland Pros if they didn't have that stupid yellow tag on the side of them that makes them look like kids shoes.

I've got plenty of "dressy shoes". They are all low cut.
When winter comes, that means two things: Snow in the shoes, or wearing rubber boots to work and then changing.
This is anoying. I want an above-the-ankle boot that looks nice and isn't clunky.
No worries, I found what I need.

I look for the same in a boot - something that looks reasonably professional with slacks. Surprisingly hard to find.

I just googled "mens dress boot" and found hundreds of options that look like high top dress shoes you could wear with a suit.

I'm 100%USA made Chippewa after the first pair I bought stayed waterproof for nearly two years of everyday abuse. Not all Chippewa boots are made in the USA. Haven't found another boot that can compare. O.P. I'm glad you found what you where after.

Chippewa Apach is US Made. I tried them on. Comfy, but still too large. If I needed a work boot, I'd go to them though.
I'm getting US made Corcorann's. Made in Pennslyvania.

Thorogoods are bit too clunky for me, unfortunately. They are more of a working man's boots than they are a "office mans" boot. I'm a little ashamed to say that.
These are the first boots I've ever owned that DIDN'T feel clunky. They felt like they were a couple years old the first time I put them on. Very light, very lean, no clunky whatsoever. I sometimes choose them instead of tennis shoes, that's how comfotable and easy to wear they are. Thorogood makes a lot of different boots, these are just one type. My Timberlines are at least twice as clunky as these boots.

Found'em
Corcoran makes "original pattern" 10" Jump Boots, and their parent company Cove Boots (just outside of Pittsburgh, PA) makes custom boots for reeanctors.
Because I've already got a pair of low top boots, I wanted something in 8" or higher. I want something that when the snow starts to fall I can tramp through it and not get snow down boots.
For $140, American Made, classic look (with toe cap) and can be resoled by just about an shoe service.
No way those aren't clunkier than Thorogoods. Just sayin'.
