The audiophile take is that Bose gets the sound at the expanse of efficiency. Their newer products especially don't deliver much detail at lower volumes. I like the engineering in 901s, and their headphones are nice, but otherwise it's just meh. Having said that, I've never gone so far as to rip their stuff out of anything I've had that came with it (I'm 42 and have never bought a new car).

From all the responses so far, I'm guessing folks are unaware that Bose has spent a TON of money...HECK, SEVERAL TONS developing suspension "systems" for car and truck use. Bose has been working for more than 20 years on something that used to be called "active suspension systems". You know, those suspension systems that make thousands? millions? of adjustments per second...if you believe folks like GM. If I remember correctly (something I rarely do, sorry) the Bose "systems" employed a fair amount of what they learned engineering their speaker systems.

Bose is a classic case of a company charging a lot for something, which makes their customers think it's good stuff. Like Mercedes

Till my cobbled together stereo sounds better, my 10 dollar cable works just as well as their 60 dollar one, and my "E36 M3ty" Ryobi tools work just as well and cost half as much.
I think Ryobi has come on in leaps and bounds the last few years. I think they bought up skil, maybe?
