Anybody ever wonder how many barrels of oil were sunk in the second war? How many barrels got dumped off Kuwait in the 90s?
While I don't believe that this spill is in any way a good thing, my trust of the media and government sources is, shall we say, currently compromised. I shall believe the "end of life as we know it" hype when my emaciated, putrified, oil soaked body is consumed by the rampaging oil created zombies.
That wasn't in our backyard/frontyards. So we can't get emotionally attached to those spills and the resulting damage. Besides they were both created by acts of war and ignored because we were at war. I also think the human death toll of those wars pretty much trump any environmental damage.
I'm more worried about jobless families and complete industries damaged then "oil created zombies".
