I just finished two of the most intense, exhausting, thrilling and educational days ever. This school is head and shoulders beyond anything I've ever experienced before... there's a morning classroom session but the rest of the day is spent driving.

We had Indy star James Hinchcliffe as one of the coaches on the second day, he sat down with us individually and dissected our laps turn by turn. It was my first time in a formula car, the closest thing I'd ever driven that even came close was the Ariel Atom. I finally learned how to "blip" properly.

You could feel the rough pavement under your ass, and the cars could be really twitchy in low gear. Very demanding mentally – I literally wasn't thinking of anything else while driving, there was no room. It was essential to stay focused on the line, the footwork, shifting (sequential gearbox) and setting the car straight to brake... those buggers were really easy to spin.
I'm small, yet there are bruises on the outside of my elbows and knees where they connected with the tub, and my ass muscle is sore from braking.

Oh hell yeah, but probably younger than the jeans I was wearing...

Never done Skip Barber, so I don't know. I was pretty impressed, but mentally wiped out at the end of each day. Really took a lot of concentration, but what an incredible feeling when you do it right and wipe four seconds off your time!
