tl:dr version: Mr. Tarrant is a racing marshal (in the US, y'all call us "corner workers") in the UK that lost a a leg when a car came through his corner station at Goodwood. He decided not to quit.

Long story short, the hulk that was supposed to show up was an R33 Skyline. Which was to become the yellow car in the movie. The line was supposed to be "RB26..."

It explains the "overnight from Japan" line.
