No Sheriff Pepper or the Slide Whistle in this version, either.

Ever since I saw that movie in the theatre when it first came out, I've wondered if there really was an AMC dealer in Bangkok.
The Bond franchise has always been good for product placement...I recall a scene from Live and Let Die where Bond is riding in a taxi on the highway in New York City, and every single car on the highway is a 1973 Chevy Impala.

well, to be fair, almost every car on the road in the mid 70's was an Impala of some sort.

Watching that, it is hard not to say to yourself during most of the chase:
"boingy boingy boingy, sprong, boingy, boingy...."

What makes a good car chase? Does it have to be a cool car? Does the locale have to be iconic or pretty?

No, the best one I've seen was accurate. I've forgotten the name of the movie, but I believe James Woods was in it. He was driving a Ferrari, and his friend was driving a Prosche 911. It took place on Sunset Blvd, from east to west--a road I drove at least once a day for years. It showed every curve in real time. No jumping from one convenient curve to another, no missing a segment of road, all at speed. I was amazed. Excellent editing, escellent driving. Fastest speed was maybe 70, but, in traffic, without missing a single turn--it was awsome.

Plus a little of this. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=kLokDBOb7-U
And a dash of this. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=wFB6FfaNQ40&feature=related
Pretty much any car chase where the stunts were actually done with a car rather than a computer.

In reply to triumph5:
IIRC, the friend was Jeff Bridges. And the girl they were fighting over was Rachael Ward. Why do I remember that?
