See, I'm already doing research. Pie plates? I assume you mean wheelcovers, or is it a local thing with actual pieplates? Around here, it's usually crosses, though some are signboards of varying complexity. Plastic flowers are common, of course, but I've seen a mangled bicycle wheel or two...

There was a horrific accident not far from my house involving a bunch of intoxicated illegals in an E36 who killed some of themselves and a poor innocent victim in a Civic headed the other way. No real monument was erected, but the bent front wheel of the BMW (ripped-off control arm still attached) lay by the side of the road where it landed for the better part of 6 months before somebody took it.

Some states, like SD, put actual markers up along the road where someone dies. They say something like "Why die" or the like.

Did S.D. put one where their ex-governor/congress critter killed the biker? After which he got a whopping six months in jail or something. Anyone else would still be there, but he had to get some time out of it or risk a multi-billion dollar industry.

There's a cross down on the pavement about 2 miles from my house. Exactly what happened is hard to tell, except two young men died. It is suspected that they were drag racing and forgot to stop at the end of the straight, although the story the kids in the high school tell differs and involves a pregnant woman in another car following. That did curtail the drag racing on that particular stretch of straight road. There were two crosses, one is gone and the other is still maintained by someone. Arkansas law specifies that crosses are allowed so far off the road for so long post highway death. I suppose the time limit is there to prevent the roads from being solid crosses. People around here generally take the center line as a suggestion only on these winding 2 lane roads.

There is one where he killed the biker.

My vote was always to make his punishment fit his crime. I figured making him walk around Stugis with a sign that said "I killed a biker" would have been enough, but no one went for it.

As far as the stick figure family ones, I still haven't found one where the guy has a ball gag and the woman has a riding crop. Still looking.

Yeah, that one was really bad. Particularly the way he tried to weasel out of it and make the accident the biker's fault. But hey, that was just his lawyer doing his job, right?

I can not say anything in this conversation, I still have "(8)(o)" logos on most of my quarter windows.
