Jeremy Clarkson prompted complaints when he refuted the idea that burka-wearing women would reduce traffic incidents:

What are you going to wear under a full-body covering? More clothes? Is it clothes all the way down?

I suspect most of those desert dwellers are going commando under there... unless chafing is problem of course.

I just got that episode last night, have yet to watch it yet. While I don't always agree with Mr. Clarkson, it would take a lot worse than anything I have heard him say to offend me or anyone I know, and I watched the episode where they were in the deep south.

So wait, the outrage is over the fact that he mentioned it happened to a lady wearing a burka? If she was just wearing a non-religious gown, there wouldn't be a problem? It's obscene to point out that a lady in a burka was wearing skimpy underwear because she was wearing a burka? I suppose the only way you can say anything about anyone, true or hypothetical, is if you're talking about a non-racial, quasi-secular silhouette of a person.

I suspect the outrage is that Clarkson pointed out that Muslims are just as "morally weak" as the infidels, but none of them will admit to that peculiar human condition.

It's the clothing version of a mullet. All pious on the outside - party underneath. Clarkson just called them on it.

Like they'd fire Clarkson? They know he's loaded for bear, and just grin and slap him on the wrist when he goes overboard.

You can only utter disparaging remarks if they are directed at a white man. Then anything goes!!

I know if I had to wear a burkka I'd be commando under there. I mean... I only had to wear a graduation gown once for 20 minutes... and I went pantless.

I also know that if there are hot chicks under burkkas then there is probably an entire website dedicated to the up-skirt shot of stiletto heels and fishnets. You can oppress women - but you can't stop men from thinking about them.

Yeah I never understood the Burka outside of the Muslim world. Why would an American women choose to practice a religion that constantly oppresses women. And Jeremy Clarkson is hilarious, I hope they don't make him apologize or do some dog and pony admittance of wrong doing, he did nothing wrong.

Talking to a female Army officer that traveled quite a bit through the Middle East, she says that when the Burka women get to a road side rest area the Burkas come off. Underneath is the most beautiful, expensive 5th Ave. clothing! They dress for each other but can only show it off in the ladies room.

I wouldn't lie to you guys.

Seems like Angie Dickinson (talking with Johnny Carson) once stated something similar - "Women dress for each other, but undress for men".

He wasn't being un-PC, he was relating an incident he saw. He apparently didn't follow up on it and expound as he is wont to do, but related it and then went on about the rest of the piece.

How is this any more horrible than all the speculation that goes on about what's underneath a Scots man's kilt?

Religion is a crutch for those that can't think for themselves. Sorry this isn't about Religion A, B or C. I've said things to so called devout Christians and had them pissed off. Most Hindus think I'm going to whatever their incarnation of hell is. Besides, your tabloid newspapers make these things far worse by relying on sensationalist reporting because if we really cared about what was relevant then most newspapers would be paper sparse.
