WIXOM, Mich. (WXYZ) - Ron Rodriguez is begging for your help. He’s visiting from Pennsylvania and had his classic Cadillac convertible stolen on Friday night.

The black 1959 convertible – with a green interior and a white roof – broke down last night. He had the car towed to the Holiday Inn Express on Wixom Road and I-96. Then, Ron put the car in its trailer.

When Ron woke up this morning for the 2011 Woodward Dream Cruise , the car was gone.

Ron has poured his heart and soul into this car for twenty years. He is offering a large reward - $2,500 – for the return of the classic Cadillac. He was able to provide us with the photos above.

Have you seen Ron’s car? Please call Wixom Police right away: 248-624-6114.

I can't imagine what size trailer that thing fits into.. can't be easy to hide.

I hope he gets it back unharmed..

So, he placed it in the trailer but it is not clear if the trailer is gone or if just the car is gone. My guess is trailer and car are gone but no description of trailer given which is what you would really be looking for. If the trailer was not taken then did someone pull a non running 5,000 lb car out of one trailer and then load it into another trailer while no one was watching???

I used to tell myself that I wouldn't own a classic car, or a car that so many other folks might want to park in their garage. But I have to admit it, the real reason why I will never own a car like this is that I can't afford to buy a car that will need a reward posted when someone "drives" away in it.

I sort of feel for the guy, but only sort of. (NOT a fan of huge old cars.)

My son has a '63 Caddy convertible. No, he does not drive it much, but taking a cruise down Ocean Drive in that thing, top down, might change your impression of big old cars.

    From my cousin in Detroit:

Good News! Just heard that Detroit Police found the car, trailer & pickup truck and the car was not harmed except for a couple of footprints on the hood.

Finally, a mention of the fact a Red Dodge Truck and Red Trailer were missing. I am amazed that this was found with such poor info given.

maybe they withheld the info on purpose? (just playing devil's advocate here)

several of the photos used on the TV news coverage showed the red truck and trailer, but there was no mention of the truck and trailer also being stolen. poor coverage, no doubt.

I will bet that the Dodge pickup, especially if diesel, was the target and maybe the trailer. My guess is the caddy was just baggage.

    ^this.

Thieves aren't interested in cars they can't get rid of easily.

The truck and trailer have more value to the average idiot.

Sigh.... I've lived in Michigan most of my life. I go to Woodward to cruise every weekend except the dream cruise, because of the huge crowds and thieves. Just the same, when I lived in Florida I rode my bike every day except Daytona Bike Week... got a ride to work then...

At least the thief had good taste in classics...
