If it were my construction company, I would have added my name to barrel man and left it. What great free publicity! And I would have him make one at each of my sites.
Saw an update this morning. The company didn't want to press charges. They also want him to build another to put in their lobby and on other sites.

That was the Art League of Houston's office. It was slated to be replaced by a new, fancy-pants office and between the time the demo order was issued and it was removed it was converted to an art piece. Seems it was around for almost a year. The location was on Montrose Blvd just north of Texas Art.
Yep. I used to live on Mimosa, off Sheperd and San Felipe, about 6-8 blocks to the west of Montrose.
