I've stuck my Talon up on Reno CL and had expected/hoped to get at least some reaction. When I didn't I had a look and I can't see my own ad when I browse cars for sale, even though in my CL account I'm being told it's active.

So if someone could have a look and let me know if other users can see an ad for a modded Talon that's been posted this morning (ie, on the 22nd) I'd really appreciate it.

Nothing comes up on the Reno/Tahoe Craigs for "modded Talon" and the last post for "talon" was on the 21st.

OK, so you're (not) seeing what I'm (not) seeing - the title should be '1993 Eagle Talon Tsi AWD, modded'.

    Weird.

Maybe some shiny happy person (people) flagged it for removal. Sadly, its a common tactic in order to remove any competitors.

That's what I thought initially, but don't you as the seller get an email if that happens? I know that I got one the last time this happen (over a year ago).

You would get an email if it has been flagged.

I don't see it in a search either.

No email that it's been flagged, neither in the regular email nor the spam folder.

I ran into the same issue when I sold my altima

did you by chance use word or something like that to type it out then cut and past?... if so retype the dang thing in wordpad to cut/paste it... apparently some of the info can make it in the code and will keep it from posting or something... or at least thats what I was told after weeks of fighting the posting issue I had

The last few times I tried posting on CL, I didn't see my ad either. I had to try 3 or 4 times before it'd show up. I'm about done with CL anyway. From this issue to getting 300 spams per actual inquiry, it's becoming not worth it anymore.

I actually used the ad I had put up here the last time I got fed up with the car as a basis and added some more HTML formatting. Maybe there was something in there or the externally linked photos that CL didn't like, but I did the same earlier this year when I put my truck up for sale without any issue. Back then I didn't have to get CL to send me an authorization code either, though.

I hear you, but I'm at a loss re other venues, plus CL is cheap enough to chuck it on there and see what happens.

I guess I'll try to edit the ad tomorrow and put it up there again.

Trouble with Autotrader is that people don't really search there for cheap cars, do they?

I used to, before CL. I've tried every trick with CL to avoid scams. I put my e-mail address in there with "dot" and "at", my phone number spelled out. Those help, but I still get the spam. And the spammers are smarter now. It used to me "I would like to buy your vehicle. I will pay full asking price. Please advise me of full asking price" or something like that. Now it's "Do you have any more pictures of the van?"
One thing I thought of was, in the body of the ad, 3 times or more, put "put cinderella in the subject line or I will not answer any e-mails.

It's called Ghosting. Craiglist is letting you think it's posted when it is not. They do it for some reason only known to them....

Extra HTML seems to be one of the flags for ghosting. Try another ad without it.

That's what I figured - I guess I'll reduce the html and upload one of the photos I hotlinked, maybe that'll get it through.

It's not exactly "extra" html - we're talking about a couple of "ul"/"li" tags and a bunch of "img" tags which I thought they'd support anyway.

Maybe I should take a page out of the book out of the scammers and just make the whole ad one big img .
