I bought it with front end damage and i'll be getting rid of with more front end damage.
Clipped the front of a minivan who invaded my lane at 60mph, then hit a guard rail.

Airbags deployed, people come over to see if I alright, I hopped out, froze my ass off, got checked out, admired what was left of my ZX2, and now I'm at home.

Doctor says I'm in pretty good shape for the speed of impact. I'll attribute that to my driving skills learned at Auto-X and ability to take a hit.

Never thought I'd be writing a wreck story.

    Mine on the end

Nice little commuter while it lasted.

Damn glad you are doing okay, it could have been much worse.

You'll notice I didn't hit either the guard rail or him directly head on. Hence why the bumper support is pointed.

In fact, I'm really lucky I had a guard rail to stop me or I would've been moving a good rate of speed in an uncontrolled manner into who knows what. Trees, telephone poles, houses, other cars...it could have been bad.

Had I gone to the inside (berm of my lane) I might have clipped his rear end gone off the road into a house, or lost control coming back into my lane. Had I T-Boned him, don't think i'd be typing this, and I had gone directly into the other lane I might be dead.

So as bad as it is, it's an acceptable way to end a car.

Glad to hear you're OK. Sucks to see your car totaled.

My parents are looking into getting a ZX2 for my sister. She has to drive from Mass. to Los Angeles and back, so that she can attend film school there. In an odd way, this seems like a good indicator of its saftey.

Wow, nasty crash. But considering the speed at which it occurred, the car held up remarkably well. Glad you walked out of it.

BTW it was two hits. I hit the mini van (removed everything from his front wheels forward), and then hit the guard rail.

I think the ZX2's slightly longer wheel base, and being lowered on wider wheels helped keep it planted.

I'd almost be half nervous to drive a car without airbags now, but an E30 or 240 are too tempting.

It doesn't sound like you were at fault. Did the police see it that way? Was the minivan driver alright?

I'm glad to hear you're OK.

You might want to consider installing a retractable harness setup. I believe Corbeau and Schroth both make versions (Corbeau is a Y style Schroth an H style). I have a Schroth in my car, I also was getting a bit nervous staring at the hard steering wheel since my car did not even have a shoulder harness. These harnesses are NOT restrictive for daily driving, you can easily lean over and reach around in the car as needed.

Get a '90 or newer E30 and it will have an airbag.

Merry Xmas, Looks like you'll be getting yourself a new car. If it still runs, it would make a great LeMons 24 hr car. It's already been broken in.
