I've been dealing with RLS for probably 5 years now, it is a total drag. I don't remember the last time I got a decent night's sleep.

There is a restless leg foundation based in Rochester, MN: http://www.rls.org/ They have some good information and resources.

I get that really bad if I'm not working out regularly and eating a balanced diet. Exercise has improved my circulation immeasurably, as well as eating potassium rich foods.

My wife has had good results with a prescription drug called pramipexole in 0.125 mg tablets.

I have it too. Sucks. I also do the "twitch" when 1/2 asleep/falling asleep. Sometimes its rather violent and it wakes me back up.

Best thing I've found to avoid either of these is to go to sleep when really exhausted. Or right after sex (in which case you should be exhausted anyway).

That's what I should be doing...it can become a vicious cycle; the more tired I get, the harder it is to get off the couch and put down the chips. I need someone with a whip and a chair to get me back on track.

They're called personal trainers and compared to doctors bills, they're quite affordable. I lack motivation, yet I'm too polite not to show up to my regularly-scheduled training sessions. Mondays and Thursdays, without fail. It's made a big difference in mood, sleep, self-confidence, you name it.

Yep. I've got Reynaud's too, a circulatory disorder of the fingers. When I'm looking after myself, it's negligible, if not... I have to run my hands under a warm tap to regain the feeling in my fingertips in the cold weather.

in all serious if I stick to a 2-3 mile walking DAILY workout; I have limited issues. When I slack off some health issues come back.

    Me too.

I've noticed the last few years a LOT of people fidgeting in meetings, the movies, etc. Is this an epidemic of some kind??

OK I feel better this am. Don't know why, but it always seems to be much worse at night and I was a bit cranky last night.

I am thankful for what I have.

Potassium-rich foods help get rid of charlie horses and those sudden holy-crap-there's-a-beartrap-on-my-calf things that used to kick my ass.
