Did something change in the banner ad at the top of the page?
It is suddenly much more distracting than I've ever noticed.

The animated ads showed up a few days ago but were mostly obscured by the subscription banner. That seems to have been fixed and now home appliance ads occupy that space.
The question to GRM staff is should we be clicking on them to generate revenue for you?

I'm getting ads for Belle Tire, Chevy trucks and other relevant things. Hopefully it stays that way. If the ad company misinterprets all of our talk about trannies, rods and blowing things (tires, engines, etc) and starts putting up ads for weird porn sites, then I'll be worried.
Honestly though, I didn't even notice the ads until SVRex pointed them out.

Ads don't bother me if they're unobtrusive. Since most ads tend to be highly attention grabbing, I run Chrome with AdBlock.
