Disney had some really weird ideas about the future. However they do talk about GPS and teleconferencing. Which is a little creepy...

definatly had a "utopian" feel to it... but yesterday's fantasies are often tomarrow's fact. Though I doubt we will ever see an atomic power tunnel borer that literally melts the rock out of the way

Cool retro animation!
If you think those ideas are creepy, they also envisioned heads-up displays, rear-view cameras, airborne emergency services, cantilevered roadways, moving sidewalks, automatic guidance systems co-ordinated with embedded roadways (eliminating driver input), the Chunnel, etc, etc.
I think we'll be waiting a while for the ceramic bridges, air-conditioned tubular highways and rotating roads.
The atomic reactor tunneling device, melting rock as it bores its' way to fantasy-land - probably not.

I once heard that Walt himself was behind alot of the futurist ideas.

You mean, the atomic rock melter isn't real? That was the only thing I believed! Well that and the self building roads and bridges.
