Wow, a rare and exciting BMW M3 V6 model. I have never seen one in person...

BMW doesn't make V6 engines. They make Inline 6 engines.

I was going to say, "That's only excusable if he's swapped in a -----------------", but couldn't think of any V6 worthy enough to fill in the blank.

But his plate says ONLY 1.
He could be in the More Money than Brains Club.

Perhaps he cut a V-12 (from the 7 series) in half?

You know, I can really think of only 1 V6 engine that would really make sense over a I6 engine in an e36.
The Toyota 3.5 V6, Nissan 3.5 V6 and Hyundai 3.7 V6 each put out about 300 HP, but I can't help but think it would be easier and better documented to put in the S54 from the e46 M3.
The only factory forced induction V6 (RWD applications) that I can think of is the VG30DETT and the supercharged 3.2L in the Crossfire SRT6... And frankly, the 3L turbo BMW I6 seems like a better start, not to mention the RB26DETT or Supra Turbo motor.
Finally, since V8s fit in there fairly easily, there really only boils down to 1 V6 that really seems "worth it" at all, and that's the 3.8L turbo V6 from a new GT-R. Unless he's one of those "different just to be different" people.
